Columbus Lions News Release

COLUMBUS, GA (January 13, 2010) - With the start of their 2010 season a mere 65 days away, the Columbus Lions of the Southern Indoor Football League are proud to announce the signing of two former Kentucky Horsemen (AF2) to the 2010 roster.

Before becoming a big-time play-making arena receiver, Lonnell Dewalt (6'7 230, Kentucky) was once a prime recruit for the Wildcats football and basketball program. After playing in all 11 games as freshman, Dewalt gained notoriety as kick blocker after blocking seven kicks on his way to earning the National Special Teams Player of the Year.

In just three seasons, Dewalt has amassed 233 receptions, 2,801 yards, and 63 touchdowns while playing for the AF2's Louisville Fire (2007-08) and the Kentucky Horsemen (2009). Both in 08 and 09, Lonnell led the Fire and Horsemen scoring after collecting a combined 330 points. Not to be outdone defensively, Dewalt also played some defensive back for both Louisville and Kentucky accumulated 38.5 tackles (32 solo).

In addition, the Lions also signed offensive and defensive lineman Chris Terrell (6'5 330, Marshall). While seeing limited action, Terrell combined to gather 14 tackles (9 solo), four sacks, along with three forced fumbles. Despite his contributions defensively expect majority of Terrell's action with the Lions to be spent on the offensive side of the ball, as his 330-pound frame is more needed for the club.

"Truthfully I was originally only going after Terrell since we needed to add some depth and skill to our offensive line," says Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson. "Chris urged me to take a look at Dewalt and I was greatly impressed with what I saw." "I am excited to get training camp started and see what these guys can all do," continued Gibson.

The Columbus Lions will begin their 2010 campaign on March 20th as they take on the defending SIFL Champion Louisiana Swashbucklers. Fans still have an opportunity to purchase their season tickets, call the Lions front office at 706-322-3336 or visit them at www.columbuslions.net
