April 28, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Bloomington Extreme News Release

BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme has signed linebacker, Justin Harrison. The Bloomington High School and University of Illinois football standout began practice with the Extreme Tuesday night and has agreed to a contract to play for the remainder of the 2010 season.

The 5'11", 220 lbs linebacker was second on the Extreme during the 2009 season with 65.5 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. As a leader in the middle of the defense, Harrison helped the league's top defensive unit from a year ago hold opposing offenses to a league low 26 points per game. He was named the IFL week 13 defensive player of the week during the 2009 season.

Head Coach, Kenton Carr commented, "Justin brings a much needed physical presence to our defense. He is a hard hitting football player with speed and a nose for the ball. He is a player that is a leader both on and off the field."

Harrison, a University of Illinois graduate, ended his 4 year career with the Fighting Illini with 284 tackles, 6 forced fumbles, and 4 interceptions while helping the Illini to 2008 Rose Bowl against USC. Following his Big Ten college career, Harrison signed with the NFL's Cleveland Browns, attending training camp and later spent time in training camp with the New Orleans Saints prior to being released due to a hamstring injury.

Harrison is currently working at the University of Illinois as a strength and conditioning coach as part of Ron Zook's football staff. Harrison will be in uniform this week for the Extreme's game at Omaha against the Beef on Saturday, May 1, which can be heard on WJBC FM, 93.7.

The Bloomington Extreme's next home game is Saturday, May 8 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum versus the La Crosse Spartans at 7:05. 3,000 Extreme hats will be given away as part of the Extreme's partnership with American Junior Baseball. Special baseball themed jerseys will be worn and auctioned off following the game. For tickets or information, visit www.bloomingtonextreme.com or call 309.434.2679.
