Columbus Cottonmouths News Release
The Columbus Cottonmouths welcome back one of their top forwards from last season, as Levi Lind has re-signed with the team. He brings with him his younger brother Dan, who will join the Snakes for his professional debut.
Levi, 22, will be attending training camp with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL and, unless he signs with Gwinnett, will be returning to the Snakes for his second season. He came to the Snakes last season as a rookie, making an immediate impact. The 6-foot-3 forward from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded points in nine of his first 12 games, and went on to play in all 56 regular season games, collecting 52 points. Levi finished second on the team in points scored, first in powerplay goals with ten, and his +12 was the highest among the Snakes. He and his rookie linemate Jesse Cole were named to the All-SPHL rookie team.
Dan Lind (6'3", 200 lb) joins the Snakes for his rookie season. Last year, he split time with the Melville Millionaires and Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, picking up an assist in 20 games. In 2008-09, Dan played 27 games with the Estevan Bruins of the SJHL, recording seven points.
"I am excited to get both Levi and his little brother on board this year," head coach Jerome Bechard said. "I'm happy for Levi to get an opportunity to showcase his talent with an ECHL team. I hope he displays his skills well and makes our organization proud. After the season he had last year, he deserves a chance at a higher level, but at he same time I hope to have him back here at some point. I am excited to have Dan come down and show what he can do. I'll be looking for him to be a high-energy player who hits everything in sight, and of course chip in some goals."
The Snakes have now signed nine forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders for the upcoming season. Returning from the 2009-10 team are Will Barlow, Sam Bowles, Jesse Cole, Orrin Hergott, Levi Lind, Blake Miller, Daryl Moore, Kyle Lundale and Ian Vigier. Joining the Snakes for their rookie seasons are Adam Chalifoux, Matt Kinnunen, Nicholas Kuqali, Dan Lind, Brody Malek and Mitch Wall.
