Augusta RiverHawks News Release
The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club has acquired veteran defenseman, Bryan Nathe, for the 2010-2011 inaugural season. Most recently, Nathe played with teammate Matt Auffrey in Port Huron, Michigan for the Port Huron Icehawks, a former member of the International Hockey League.
"Bryan is a veteran player with great mobility and contributes at both ends of the ice," said RiverHawks Head Coach, Brad Ralph. "He brings with him a great deal of experience playing in different situations at the professional level. That will allow him to be a great leader for our young team."
Nathe, an Elk River, Minnesota native, played professionally in the East Coast Hockey League, Central Hockey League and the International Hockey League. Prior to turning pro, Nathe played collegiate hockey at Northeastern University.
The six foot, 190 pound defenseman posted a career high 27 points in 59 games, including 20 assists and 56 penalty minutes with the Wichita Thunder of the CHL in 2008-2009.
"It's no secret that a strong defense is one of the main keys to building a championship team," Ralph said. "Adding a solid veteran like Bryan to the roster is a great step in that direction."
The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club is located in Augusta, Georgia, and they are committed to making the CSRA a better place to live for individuals and families alike. The RiverHawks are dedicated to being good community partners and providing positive role models for local youth.
The RiverHawks' inaugural season will begin with a weekend extravaganza October 22nd and 23rd. Information on season tickets and sponsorships for the 2010-11 season are available by visiting www.augustariverhawks.com or by calling 706-993-2645.
