Las Vegas Lights FC News Release

LAS VEGAS - Known as one of the toughest, most physical teams in the United Soccer League, Las Vegas Lights FC now welcomes in some reinforcements to take part in next Saturday night's festivities at Cashman Field, as the club goes for its fifth straight home win.

As the August "Saturday Night Lights" schedule rolls on, August 18 will be UFC Night at Cashman Field, with UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin, UFC flyweight Joseph Benavidez and UFC women's strawweight Claudia Gadelha joining the mix as Lights FC takes on top Western Conference outfit Phoenix Rising FC at 8 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday's match start at just $15 at LightsFC.com. Each home match in August features pre-match and post-match fireworks, plus fireworks following every Lights FC goal scored.

For a full rundown of Lights FC's "Saturday Night Lights" ticket specials and promotions - Including the "Ticket and Grub" offer, which gives a $10 food voucher with each ticket when purchasing four or more in the Supporter, Corner or Midfield Upper sections - visit LightsFC.com/August.

UFC Night will merge Lights FC with one of Las Vegas's - and the world's - most iconic sports brands. Fighters in attendance will begin the night by hanging out at the Zappos Tailgate for a meet and greet with all Lights FC fans. The Zappos Tailgate begins at 5:30 p.m. before each Lights FC home match, featuring a BBQ picnic, a wide beer selection, music, tailgate games for adults and kids, Lights FC merchandise for sale and much more.

Griffin is a former UFC light heavyweight champion, whose fast rise saw him become one of the sport's most popular figures during his 11-year professional mixed martial arts career. Benavidez is currently the No. 3 ranked UFC flyweight, having won six of his last seven fights, and Gadelha currently is ranked No. 3 in the UFC women's strawweight division.

August 18 will feature a big night of action on the pitch, as Lights FC (7-10-5, 26 points) aims to earn points on the USL Western Conference table against Phoenix Rising FC (12-6-5, 41 points), who currently sits in fourth place in the 17-team conference.

Griffin, Benavidez and Gadelha will have a presence at Cashman Field throughout the night, including the pregame presentation of the ceremonial Lights FC Pink Scarf, then taking part in a special halftime event.

"Lights FC players recently had the pleasure of training with UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin at the new UFC Performance Institute and thoroughly enjoyed it," Lights FC Owner & CEO Brett Lashbrook said. "We are excited to now welcome Forrest and other UFC athletes to visit our players & fans at Cashman Field. As we continue with our August 'Saturday Night Lights' schedule, we can't wait to offer this unique experience to all of our fans who come to join the party in Downtown Las Vegas."
