Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
MATCH SUMMARY:
Lights FC kicked off a two-game homestand by facing Sacramento Republic FC, who will play in the US Open Cup Final on September 7th against MLS side Orlando City.
The referee called a penalty kick early in the match, with Sacramento taking advantage of it to open the score courtesy of Douglas Martinez in the 9th minute.
Las Vegas was able to turn the tables before the end of the first half. First, they flipped the field with a long kick from goalkeeper Abraham Romero from his own box all the way to the other end of the field, where Alvaro Quezada served Christian Torres who tied the score.
During added time, Jorge "Ima" Almaguer served a cross that was deflected in the box and landed perfectly in front of Daron Iskenderian, who took advantage of the opportunity by scoring his first goal as a professional to put the Lights ahead 2-1.
With this victory, Lights FC's point tally is at 37 points, which keeps the team at sixth place in the Western Conference. The top 7 teams in each conference will advance to the USL Championship playoffs.
