Lights FC Announces "Shirts off Our Backs" Postgame Initiative Following All 2018 Home Matches at Cashman Field
March 21, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
LAS VEGAS - A franchise that is by the fans, for the fans and of the fans in every way possible, Las Vegas Lights Football Club is announcing one of its most fan-centric initiatives to date.
Wednesday evening, the team announced its "Shirts Off Our Backs" initiative.
After every Lights FC United Soccer League home match in 2018 at Cashman Field, the club's roster of players will give their game-worn jerseys to those who make up the soul of the team - the fans. On top of giving out their jerseys, players will make the rounds to sign autographs on the field for fans in attendance.
The announcement came in conjunction with a special training session between Lights FC players at youth soccer players at Kellogg-Zaher Soccer Complex - the training home of Lights FC. The event was one of several planned initiatives between Lights FC and the City of Las Vegas for the upcoming season.
"We create memorable moments - win or lose," Lights FC owner & CEO Brett Lashbrook said. "This initiative takes it one step further by guaranteeing all of our fans will have a chance to interact with our players after every single match at Cashman Field - Autographs, game-worn jerseys and lifetime memories."
After each match, Lights FC players will be on the lookout for some of the club's most passionate, outgoing and colorful supporters of all ages. Those fans will be chosen by players each game to receive an authentic, match-worn jersey straight off our backs.
Lights FC's signature home kits made a splash nationally when announced in early February. Designed by the club's presenting sponsor - Zappos - the jerseys are bold and energetic, and feature the unique emoji celebration piece on the underside of the front, on display for the cameras after Lights FC players score goals in 2018.
Also, fans are encouraged to stick around Cashman Field after each match ends as the players work the perimeter of the pitch to sign autographs and interact with all fans.
The first opportunity for fans to take part in the "Shirts Off Our Backs" postgame initiative should be a memorable one - Saturday night at 8 p.m., when in-state rival Reno 1868 FC comes to Cashman Field for the first leg of the recently-named Silver State Cup series. Lights FC enters the match off of a thrilling 3-2 victory last Saturday at Fresno FC in the first USL regular season match in club history.
