Rockford Lightning News Release
The Rockford Lightning today signed Johnny Jackson for the 2005-2006 season, pending league approval. Per team policy, terms of the contract are confidential.
Jackson is no stranger to Lightning fans, as he was an integral member of the 2002-2003 Lightning squad that went 32-16 in the regular. In his prior campaign with the Lightning, Jackson averaged 8.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in 34 games for Head Coach Chris Daleo. Jackson returns to the Lightning after spending last season with the Harlem Globetrotters. Jackson has also spent considerable time in the USBL with the Kansas Cagerz, where he is the USBL All-Time Leader in rebounding with 1,313 rebounds.
"I am glad to be back here in Rockford," said Jackson. "I had a great time in Rockford the last time I was there and I hope we are able to have the same success that we did before. Coach plays a system that features my talents and lets me do the things that I do best. I can't wait for the season to get started."
"We are happy that Johnny is back in Rockford, he played well at the last Lightning Free Agent Camp" said Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Johnny is someone that works hard on every trip down the floor. He does what it takes to win games and that is what we want here in Rockford."
Lightning season tickets are currently on sale. Ticket packages start as low as $63.00. Lightning open up their home season on Nov.20th versus the Gary Steelheads. Jesse White Tumblers will perform at half time. Any further comments or questions concerning this release, please call the Lightning office at 815-874-4232
