Rockford Lightning News Release
The Rockford Lightning announced today that Cordell Henry has signed a contract for the 2005-06 season, pending Continental Basketball Association front office approval. Last season, Cordell Henry averaged 9.6 points and 6.3 assists in 20 games with the Lightning.
Before playing for the Lightning, Cordell enjoyed a successful four- year career at Marquette University where he earned All-Conference USA Second Team honors his senior season, averaging 15.1 points and 3.3 assists. This past summer, Henry played for the Milwaukee Bucks summer league team. Cordell is currently playing for the Gambusinos of the Mexican League.
"I am very happy that Cordell has re-signed with Rockford," said Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "He was very comfortable with us and we are very comfortable with him. Playing in Mexico during the off-season will insure that he will report to camp in shape and ready to go."
Veteran's camp for the Lightning opens November 6th. Henry is the third Lightning signing so far this season. The Lightning's next player will be found in the 2005 CBA Draft, which takes place Tuesday, Sept. 20. Rockford currently has eight picks for the six-round draft. The Lightning's draft party will be held at the 10th Inning Bar and Grill. The public is invited.
The next Lightning free agent camp is Saturday, Sept. 24. Lightning season tickets are now on sale. Information on this player or on upcoming Lightning events can be obtained by calling the Lightning office at 815-874-4232.
