Lightning make Wise choice for vets camp

Rockford, IL. Pending league approval, the Lightning is pleased to announce another great addition to Vet's Camp. Kelly Wise is a 6'10, 217 lb., forward from the University of Memphis.

Wise has already made a name for himself in college basketball. Wise holds the Conference USA rebounding record with 1075, which shattered the previous record of 869 held by current New Jersey Net Kenyon Martin. Wise also recorded a Conference USA record 42 career double-doubles.

As a senior, Wise averaged 11.2 points and 10.3 rebounds (13th in nation) and was named First Team All Conference USA. He led the League in double-doubles (14) and, for the second straight year, was the only player in conference USA to average a double-double. His rebounding average led Conference USA.

After graduation, Wise was the fifth pick in the first round by the Grand Rapid Hoops in the 2002 CBA Draft. "We are very excited with the addition of Wise to our training camp roster." Said Lightning Bench Boss Chris Daleo. "Wise is very athletic who can do a wide variety of things on the basketball floor. We are in the business of winning ballgames and I feel the Kelly can help us achieve our goals."
