Rockford Lightning News Release
The Lightning today announced the signing of their first round pick, Ryan Edwards, for the 2005-2006 CBA Season, pending League approval. Per team policy, terms of the agreement are confidential.
Edwards led Missouri Baptist in scoring this past season, averaging 17 ppg. and 6 rbg. for the America Midwest Conference Champions. Edwards also was named to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention team. A native of Chicago, the 6'5 Edwards is very well known to Head Coach Chris Daleo and other professional organizations for his scrappy play and hard working nature.
"We are glad to have Ryan on board," said Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo. "Ryan is someone that we have been following for four years. We sent him to Missouri Baptist. He has progressed every year and I feel that he will be able to make the jump to pro ranks as easily as he made the jump to college. Ryan might be an unknown to the casual fan but I can promise you that he will compete and will help us this season with the Lightning."
The next Lightning Free Agent Camp is October 9th. The Lightning open their 20th season in the CBA on the road against Gary on November 18th before returning to the MetroCentre on November 20th to host the same Steelheads. Lightning Season Tickets are still available. There are only a few of the Nicholson seats left.
Any further information can be obtained by calling the Rockford Lightning front office at 815-874-4232 or by visiting the team website.
