Lightning guard playing with Milwaukee Bucks

August 5, 2005 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Rockford Lightning News Release

The Rockford Lightning's point guard Cordell Henry will be playing for the Milwaukee Bucks again. This time he will not be playing against NBA hopefuls as he did in the summer leagues, but against the Beijing Ducks from China. The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) China Council and the Milwaukee Bucks announced the "MMAC China Council Bucks - Ducks Business Basketball Exchange," which will host a professional Chinese Basketball Association team during a 12-day trip to Milwaukee August 2 - 14.

The Beijing Ducks basketball tour is the first time a professional Chinese basketball team has traveled to the U.S. Larry Harris, general manager for the Milwaukee Bucks, said that the Beijing Ducks will play an exhibition game against a team of college stars and aspiring professionals, which will be known as the Midwest USA team, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Bradley Center. The Beijing Ducks will also play a second exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, in Madison at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Wisconsin Field House. Both games are free and open to the public.

Last season Henry averaged 9.6 points and 6.3 assists in 20 games with the Lightning and was instrumental in the Lightning's push for the CBA Championship. Before playing for the Lightning, Cordell enjoyed a successful four-year career at Marquette University where he earned All-Conference USA Second Team honors in 2002 after his senior year with averages of 15.1 points and 3.3 assists.
