Who will be the first free agent camper signed?

The Rockford Lightning is looking for players to fill the 2005-2006-season roster. Coach Daleo loves to give unknown talent the best opportunities to make his squad, and that trend continues as the Lightning announce their first free agent camp for the summer.

On Saturday May 28th, the open player tryout will be conducted at Patriots Gateway Center- located at 615 S. 5th street in Rockford, Illinois. The tryouts will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time with registration to begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost of the tryouts is $100.00 for pre-registered players and $125.00 for on-site registration. The camp is open to only 40 players. Do not be late.

Former Rockford Lightning players on NBA rosters this year includes: Earl Boykins (Denver Nuggets), Linton Johnson and Bruce Bowen (San Antonio Spurs), and Mike James (Milwaukee Bucks). Rockford has had 56 NBA call-ups in the history. For many, the way to the NBA is through the CBA.

Lightning players who have been signed at previous free agent camps include: 2004 CBA Player of Week Brant Bailey, point guard Carson Cunningham, and 2004 players Brian Lubeck, Sidney Holmes and Jarrod Gee. You must bring your "A" game. Drills will run in the morning session-games will be held in the afternoon. Be in shape and ready to run. All free-agent camp information can be found on the Lightning web site or by calling the Lightning office.
