Waza Flo News Release

(Detroit, MI) The Detroit WAZA Flo continued their winning streak with another victory today, beating the Louisville Lightning 10-7 on their home turf. This win was the second triumph for WAZA this weekend, preserving their status at the top in PASL's Eastern Division.

While Louisville dominated the action in the first quarter, outshooting and outscoring WAZA to put the Lightning up 2-1, the Flo answered back in the second quarter by knocking in four goals that left Louisville's offense scrambling to recover. "It was a roller coaster of a ride today", said WAZA head coach, Costea Decu. "But we were able to turn it around and had an inspiring win."

The start of the second half produced a more aggressive Lightning bringing the score to within a point. By the fourth quarter, Louisville poured on the pressure pulling ahead of Detroit 7-6 but it was not enough. WAZA pushed out four additional goals within the last 8 minutes of the match to secure the win.

This win was an overall team effort as seven WAZA players left the field with at least one point. Detroit's Aaron Byrd started the scoring, as well as Nate Robinson, Ryan Mack and Victor Otieno each finding net once. Tino Scicluna, Woreth Sampson and Costea Decu walked off the field with a set of braces each.

"I'm really proud of my team. I'm proud of the way we played, and came back. I'm proud of our fans," added Decu. "We really fed off the crowd this afternoon. Without their support, I'm not sure if we would have been able to pull off the win. It was a thrill."

The WAZA FLO will hit the road to play the Ohio Vortex this Friday, January 20th, at the Canton Civic Center, 8:00 kick-off.
