Stockton Lightning News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning have announced OL/DL Stephen Bell and WR/DB Reynard Carrie have been assigned to the Lightning by the arenafootball2 League Office.
A local product of Oakland, Calif., Bell recently finished his college football career at Temple University (NCAA), joining former Owls Phil Goodman, Jamal Wallace, Chris Harris and Anthony Bolden on the Lightning roster. Bell started all 22 games for the Owls from 2004-05 and was used as a frontline piece that protected All-American quarterback and Big East Conference Player of the Year Walter Washington in 2004 (Temple's season leader in passing, rushing and total offense).
Prior to transferring to Temple, Bell competed as a two-year starter on the offensive frontline at Sacramento City College and was a two-year starter at Fremont High (Calif.) under head coach Matthew Walker, where he participated in the 2000 Oakland/San Francisco All-Star Game.
Bell, who recently celebrated his 23rd birthday on June 8, will wear jersey number 65.
Carrie, 24, returns to Stockton after registering three tackles in his only game in a Lightning uniform on May 13. Carrie previously appeared in one game with the Everett Hawks earlier this season, registering five tackles in a 60-54 loss to the Bakersfield Blitz. Carrie's 2005 af2 rookie season was spent with the Central Valley Coyotes, tallying 16 tackles in six games, including a season-high six (twice) take-downs against Bakersfield and the San Diego Riptide.
A collegiate product of Portland State University (NCAA), Carrie garnered second-team All-Big Sky honors with the Vikings as a 2002 junior. Carrie's football roots trace to the Northern California region, where he previously lettered in football and track at local Concord De La Salle High School (Calif.).
The Lightning return to play with a week 11 road matchup against the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. PT. The game can be heard live on the internet through www.stocktonlightning.com, courtesy of SportsJuice.com.
