Lightning Add Quarterback, Announce First Cuts

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning of the arenafootball2 league announced QB Ashley Chambers has been assigned to the Lightning by the af2 league office. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Chambers, 26, previously competed at Upper Iowa University (NCAA), the recipient of two Hardeefs Athlete of the Week awards. The 6-foot-2 , 230-pound signal caller spent his college career at Sierra (Calif.) Junior College and competed at Sacramento Natomas (Calif.) High School.

The Lightning also announced the following players were released and placed on re-assignment: œ BfJay Jones (WR) œ Kevin Jones (WR) œ Javelle Ford (WR/LB) œ Tedaryl Mason (WR) œ Chester Coleman (WR) œ John Kadala (WR) œ Steven Wichman (QB)

Additionally, it was announced WR/DB Ryan Bugg was placed on the injured reserve list (hamstring).

Currently underway with training camp for their third season in Stockton, the Lightning start the 2008 campaign beginning March 28, taking the road against the Tri-Cities Fever. The 2008 Lightning home opener is Saturday, April 12 against the Boise Burn, beginning at 7:00 p.m. from Stockton Arena.
