HOUSTON - BBVA Compass Stadium announced a sellout crowd for today's showdown between the last two champions of Liga MX, Club América and Santos Laguna, with an announced attendance of 21,853.

Today's match was the final stop on the 2018 TOUR ÁGUILA, the official tour of Club América friendly matches across the United States and was brought to Houston in partnership with PRIMETIME Sports and Entertainment.

"Today's match shows once again the passion for soccer that exists throughout the Houston community," said BBVA Compass Stadium General Manager Juan Rodriguez. "We are proud to be the home of soccer in Houston and to continue to entertain soccer fans in our community with high-profile world-class matches such as this one."

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw on the night, with each team finding the back of the net early in the second half. América struck first through forward Fernando González in the 54th minute, only to see Santos equalize four minutes later on a free kick from defender Matheur Dória.

Club América captured the Apertura (fall season) championship with a 2-0 aggregate victory over Cruz Azul in the two-leg final series. After playing to a scoreless draw in the first leg, Las Águilas defeated their cross-town rivals 2-0 in the second leg at Estadio Azteca on December 16 thanks to a brace from midfielder Edson Álvarez.

Santos Laguna won the Clausura (spring) championship with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Toluca in the final series. Los Guerreros won the first leg 2-1 at home before playing to a 1-1 draw in Toluca. Forward Julio Furch keyed the series victory with the game-winning goal in Leg 1 and the crucial away goal in Leg 2.
