IL1 Lehigh Valley IronPigs

LHV Game Notes 4-7

April 6, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

After snow spoiled the season opener last night, the IronPigs begin the 11th season in franchise history with Game 1 of a shortened two-game series at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I. For the fourth time in five years, the Pigs begin with the Red Sox -- who have taken two of these three meetings, including a 14-7 victory at Coca-Cola Park last year. Lehigh Valley, which seeks its first Governors' Cup title in franchise history, has won the Wild Card in each of the past two seasons and has reached the IL postseason three times overall. The Paw Sox -- Boston's top affiliate -- finished in fourth place in the North Division for a second-consecutive season in 2017. The Sox look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2014, when they were IL Champions. Following this season-opening series, the Pigs travel to Scranton/WB for a three-game set before their home-opener on April 12.

RHP Zach Eflin (1-4, 4.57 in IL in '17) will start for LHV against RHP Justin Haley (2-2, 2.93 in IL in '17).

First pitch today is at 1:35 p.m.
