
LHP Michael Mader to Triple-A Gwinnett, OF Connor Lien Activated from the DL

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Atlanta Braves have made a series of roster moves affecting the M-Braves roster before tonight's game in Jacksonville. OF Connor Lien has been activated from the Disabled List, LHP Michael Mader has been transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett and OF Brandon Downes has been placed on the 7-day Disabled List, retroactive to Aug. 6.
Mader, 24, opened the season on Mississippi's roster is promoted to Gwinnett for the fourth time this season. Overall this season, the Mariana, FL native is 4-4 with a 4.10 ERA (36 ER/79.0 IP), 38 walks and 69 strikeouts in 26 games, 12 starts between Mississippi and Gwinnett this season. Mader was acquired by the Braves in 2016 from the Miami Marlins. He was originally a third-round selection by the Marlins in 2014 out of Chipola College (FL).
Lien, 24, was placed on the DL on July 25. In 85 games this season, the Orlando, FL native is batting .189 (43-for-228) with 15 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 22 RBI. Lien was Atlanta's 12th round selection in 2012 out of Olympia HS (FL).
Downes, 25, has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to Aug. 6 and is batting .203 (25-for-123) with a double, two triples, two home runs, 13 RBI and nine walks. Downes was acquired by the Braves from the Kansas City Royals on June 21.
Also on Friday, the Braves purchased the contract of M-Braves alum RHP Chad Sobotka from Triple-A Gwinnett. If Sobotka makes his MLB debut, he would become the 138th M-Braves alum to debut and ninth this season. RHP Wes Parsons and LHP Adam McCreery made their MLB debut for the Braves on Thursday in Washington. Both were optioned to Gwinnett today.
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 24 active players and four on the disabled list.
