Lexington Sporting Club News Release
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lexington Sporting Club is set to face off against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at home on Friday. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and will take place at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, Ky.
Lexington SC (0-0-1, 1 point) is coming off its home and season opener which saw it draw NC Hailstorm FC 0-0 on March 9. Amal Knight made three thrilling saves in the effort to keep the game scoreless.
Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (0-0-0, 0 points) has yet to begin its 2024 season, but finished the 2023 season in 10th place, missing the cut for the USL League One playoffs. The Red Wolves won eight games but lost a staggering 17, the second most in the league. With a new year, the Red Wolves are looking to get back to 2022 form, which saw them finish runner up to the USL League One title.

GAME NOTES
Lexington SC will be facing off with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC for the first time this season. Last season the pair met in three contests, with the Wolves holding a 2-1-0 record over the Boys in Green. Lexington SC's lone win was a 2-0 shutout in Georgetown.
Lexington SC has a new man in charge for the 2024 season with Darren Powell taking the reins for the club from interim head coach Nacho Novo. Sam Stockley, the club's first gaffer, remains in his sporting director role, overseeing all men's and boy's soccer with the club.
Amal Knight was spectacular in LSC's season opener, amassing three saves and keeping a clean sheet. One of these saves was enough to earn him the club's BadAss Coffee Moment of the Match and his combined effort saw him named to the USL League One Week 1 Team of the Week along with defender Jorge Corrales.
Ropapa Mensah is the man to watch for Chattanooga. Coming off a stellar 2023 campaign, which saw the Ghanaian star score 12 goals and finish as co-leading scorer of the team, Mensah will look to improve upon his performance in 2024. Mensah scored on Lexington SC twice last year and, both times he found the net, the Red Wolves went on to secure victory. Fans of correlation and superstition would say if Lexington can stop Ropapa Mensah from finding the net, it can stop the Red Wolves from winning.
