Lexington SC Hits the Road for Revenge Match against League-Topping North Carolina FC

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lexington Sporting Club hits the road to travel to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC., on Sunday where it will face off against the league-topping North Carolina FC. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST.

Lexington SC (3-5-4, 13 points) is coming off a 2-0 victory over Chattanooga Red Wolves at home which continued a four-game unbeaten streak and marked the largest win in team history. LSC is currently 9th in the league standings.

North Carolina FC (7-4-1, 22 points) is coming off a 3-0 loss at Forward Madison FC which continued a peculiar stretch of flip-flopping between winning and losing for the club. Despite the loss, NCFC remains 1st in the league standings.

GAME NOTES

Lexington SC has faced off with North Carolina FC once already this season in the club's second match of the season. Khalid Balogun scored first for Lexington in the 6th minute but the home team won 2-1.

Lexington SC enters the match on the back of a four-game unbeaten run, earning three straight draws, including the first road point in club history, before earning an impressive 2-0 win over Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at home.

Lexington SC currently ranks second in the league in big chances created at 26. The only club that currently ranks higher is North Carolina FC. Tate Robertson himself leads the league in big chances created at seven.

Rafael Mentzingen is the man to watch for North Carolina FC. Mentzingen has scored a staggering six goals thus far, including the game-winning goal against Lexington SC in early April. A four-time USL League One Team of the Week member and former USL League One Player of the Week, Mentzingen will be key for the home team on Sunday.
