
Lexington Legends Drop Game Three to Rome Braves

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends dropped the third game of the four game series to the Rome Braves, 4-1. The Braves improve their record to 28-17 while the Legends are 22-21 on the season.
The Braves scored their first run of the game in the top of the third inning. Drew Waters reached on a two-out triple then scored on an RBI single to center field by Riley Delgado and the Braves led 1-0.
The Legends answered in the bottom of the inning after Marten Gasparini lined a leadoff double down the left field line. Julio Gonzalez brought home Gasparini on an RBI single and the Legends tied the ballgame at one.
In the top of the fourth, Rome's Jefrey Ramos blasted his second home run of the season, a solo shot to left center field to put the Braves ahead, 2-1.
In the top of the eighth, Waters reached base after he was hit by a pitch then scored on a Legends fielding error, further extending Rome's lead 3-1.
The Braves plated their final run of the game in the top of the ninth. Drew Lugbauer hit a leadoff single to right field then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Waters then doubled Lugbauer home and Rome held on to the 4-1 lead.
Odalvi Javier earned the win for the Braves tossing 6.0 innings allowing one run on two hits while striking out 10 batters. Carlos Hernandez was given the loss, throwing a season high 7.0 inning allowing two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out nine. Andrew Beckwith pitched 2.0 innings in relief allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits while walking one and striking out two.
The Legends and Braves meet tomorrow, May 24 at 7:05 p.m. for the series finale at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Lexington will send LHP Garrett Davila (2-1, 3.68 ERA) to the mound to face Rome's LHP Drew Harrington (2-1, 4.44 ERA). Teachers are invited to Whitaker Bank Ballpark to celebrate the school year and take in a baseball game on Teacher Appreciation Night. They will be involved in on-field promotions throughout the game, in what is sure to be an A+ night. One of the most famous Principals will also be making an appearance at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Mr. Belding from Saved By the Bell will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs, take pictures and find out exactly what is going on in here. Teachers who show their ID at the box office will receive $3 off box seats for the night. On Throwback Thursday, the Legends will be throwing it back to the 90's with scrunchies, neon clothing and more. Be prepared for all the best hits, including the sweet tunes of the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and other top groups from that decade. It is also Thirsty Thursday courtesy of Kentucky Ale and Pepsi. Enjoy $1 12 oz. beers and $3 16 oz. beers at the Bullpen Patio, First Base Pavilion Tent, and the Handlebar in the first base concourse. $1 Pepsi products will be available in the 1st base and 3rd base concession stands. Fans can also bring their best friend, of the K9 variety, for Bark in the Park with a $2 donation to Scott County Humane Society.
