Lexington County Native Selected St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal

Lexington, SC - The Lexington County Blowfish, Lexington Jaycees, Greater Lexington Chamber & Visitors Center and the Town of Lexington are excited to announce hat Lexington County native SC National Guard Major General Robert E. Livingston SC TAG has been chosen as the 1st ever Grand Marshal of this year's parade. SC National Guard Major General Robert E. Livingston, Jr. SC TAG serves as head of the Military Department of the state of South Carolina. He administers the affairs of the South Carolina Army and Air National Guard, the Emergency Management Division, the State Guard, Youth Challenge, and Americorp.

The parade will roll at 2pm Saturday March 12th down Main Street in downtown Lexington with an an exciting lineup of parade entries including the SCNG, Fort Jackson, the 100th Army Band, Irish Step Dancers, the Ancient Order of Hibernians carrying the 37 flags of the counties of Ireland, The Pediatric Brain Tumor - Cure for the Kids "Ride for Kids" and many more. "Snoopy" from MetLife is expected to lead the "Pooches Parade" entry - all dog owners that dress up their canines in green can join in the fun. In addition, there will be a "Musical Instrument" entry where local musicians can march/perform as well.

The Parade is a free event for everyone!

Lexington St Patrick's Day Festivities Continue

Other St. Patrick's Day festivities in Lexington include the 7th Annual Oyster Roast and St. Patrick's Day Party on Thursday, March 17 at 6 p.m. at Lexington County Baseball Stadium. Hosted by the Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center, this event brings local vendors together for guests to enjoy oysters, barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, drinks and live entertainment by Tokyo Joe. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased www.lexingtonsc.org.
