Buffalo Silverbacks News Release
Buffalo, NY. Dear Silverbacks. I would like to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the time and effort put forth by yourself and DeRon Rutledge for coming to Burgard to perform at our "Do Your Best, Never Quite" initiative. The positive and inspiring message this program sent to the children will be remembered long after the program come to a close. The efforts of these two fine young role models should be recognized and encouraged.
There were over 300 students in the auditorium to hear about the program and ask questions of Mr. Cox (Modie Cox) and Mr. Rutledge. It is our hope and expectation that our students will use what they learned in the assembly throughout the summer and for the rest of their lives. I certainly hope these gentlemen can return next year to give our new students the same message.
I have known Modie as a substitute teacher here at Burgard for the past year. I have always received positive feedback from the teachers he substituted for. He was by far my most requested substitute. The reason Modie was so popular with both the students and the staff was the positive message and kind manner that he always displayed. I am certain that he will take those attributes with him in his now role with the ABA Buffalo Silverbacks basketball organization. Sincerely. John Lehner, Vocational Coordinator. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
