Laredo Lemurs News Release
Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs' (27-24) D'Vontrey Richardson led the way going two for three and was a triple short of the cycle in a 6-4 Lemurs victory over the Amarillo ThunderHeads on Monday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.
Richardson started the night off with a bang when he drove his sixth home run of the season over the left field wall with Ty Morrison at first to the thrust the Lemurs to a 2-0 lead. Richardson would go on to pick up a single in the second and he would double in the eighth to leave him a triple short of the cycle.
Everyone in the Lemurs lineup had a hit tonight except for the left fielder Kevin Taylor. Ty Morrison had two singles and a run scored, Dustin Gieger added two singles and a run scored, Denis Phipps had a double, a single and a run scored, and Jeudy Valdez pitched in with a solo home run.Â
On the offensive side for the ThunderHeads, leadoff man Logan Vick had a big day going four for four with three singles, a triple, three runs scored, and two stolen bases.
Lemurs' relief pitcher B.J. Hyatt (2-0) would grab the win as he came in the fifth to try to help the Lemurs out of a bases loaded jam. Hyatt gave up a double that scored two runs, but they would both be credited to Lemurs starter Matt Loosen. Hyatt would then work out of the trouble by throwing one inning, giving up a hit, and striking out a batter.
ThunderHeads starter Anthony Figliolia (6-3) took the loss, going four and two thirds, giving up six runs on eight hit, with four walks and a strikeout.
John Brebbia earned his eighth save of the season as he closed out the Lemurs victory in the top of the ninth.
