South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
STATESBORO, Ga. - Former South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 defender Leland Archer has earned a call-up to the Trinidad and Tobago men's national team ahead of its international friendly match on Sunday, Jan. 31, at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Archer is the second Tormenta FC 2 alum to earn a senior national team call-up after Charleston Battery teammate Nico Rittmeyer joined Guatemala's national team in November of 2020.
"It's an honor to represent your country at the highest level," Archer told CharlestonBattery.com. "I'm definitely excited, but also honored to be chosen. The U.S. is obviously a tough Concacaf game, but it's definitely more exciting than daunting because it's one of the better teams to be playing against at this level."
The defender played for Tormenta FC's League Two side (formerly known as the Premier Development League) in 2017 and played 1,260 minutes in 14 matches while recording one assist. Archer joined the Charleston Battery in 2018 and has made 46 appearances.
While numerous Tormenta FC 2 alumni have progressed to the senior, professional Tormenta FC team, many TFC 2 standouts have made their professional debuts with clubs from around the world. Fans can view all of Tormenta FC 2's alumni in the professional ranks on the club website.
