Leite Scores Twice In Preseason Opener

Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE, WI (Oct. 5, 2007) -- MISL All-Rookie performer Marcio Leite flashed that special form on Friday night, scoring the first two Wave goals in a 9-6 loss to the Detroit Ignition in the MISL Preseason Classic.
Rookies and free-agent hopefuls played extensively for both teams. Just some of the veterans sitting out for Milwaukee were Nick Vorberg, Todd and Troy Dusosky, Joe Hammes, Michael King and Marcelo Fontana.
Leite, who scored 50 points in 25 games last year, not only scored the goals but displayed the kind of individual flair that made him a fan favorite. The first score was a solo diagonal run from his own yellow line to just outside the Ignition penalty area, where he blasted a shot home. On the second goal, he beat a defender off a restart on the right flank, gained space and ripped another shot in clean past Danny Waltman.
Detroit's Vahid Assadpour scored two goals. The Ignition took a 9-4 lead against the Wave's sixth attacker on a long 3-pointer by former Wave player Kyt Selaidpolous, and Keegan Hudson produced the final margin with a nice volley with 1 second left.
Milwaukee faces Orlando at 11 a.m. Saturday and concludes the Preseason Classic by facing Chicago at 5 p.m.
