Legends to Honor Kentucky Thoroughblades in Penultimate Homestand of the Season

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends are in the playoff hunt when they welcome in the Asheville Tourists and Kannapolis Intimidators to Whitaker Bank Ballpark in the penultimate homestand of the season.

"This homestand will highlight a former professional sports team in Lexington that produced NHL products throughout their time in the Bluegrass. Thoroughblades Throwback Night on Friday will be packed full of apparel, former players, autographs and more, all raising awareness for Central Kentucky Youth Hockey," said Legends President/CEO Andy Shea.

Tuesday, August 7 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Asheville Tourists: The Legends are back in town and are in the hunt for a playoff spot! Kick off the homestand and celebrate with 25¢ hot dogs all game long!

Wednesday, August 8 at 1:05 p.m. vs. Asheville Tourists: Wednesday will be the Legends' Silver Slugger Game presented by T-Mobile. Fans 55 years and older will get in for free when they show their ID at the box office. Postgame, those fans will be invited down to the field for a Senior Stroll around the bases! It is also another Winning Wednesday, so fans will receive a free ticket to final Wednesday of the season, on August 29.

Thursday, August 9 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Asheville Tourists: The Lexington Legends welcome all Super Heroes of all ages to Whitaker Bank Ballpark for Super Hero Night! The Legends players will be wearing special Super Hero jerseys sponsored by Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists + Small Animal Emergency. Fans at the ballpark and those unable to attend, can still bid on the jerseys and win during the game! The Super Hero jersey proceeds will be benefiting CASA of Lexington! Fans can bid online for the jerseys at Heroes such as Captain America, Batman, Spiderman and Black Panther will all be patrolling Whitaker Bank Ballpark during the game! Fans can purchase an exclusive Meet and Greet Package for $17 that includes a box ticket, meal voucher and exclusive time with the super heroes! The first 1,000 Kids 12 and under will receive either a CW Supergirl or Legends of Tomorrow Super Hero Cape when they enter through the gates at 6:00pm. Since it's a Thursday home game, we'll have our Kentucky Ale #ThirstyThursday $1 Beers and Pepsi, along with it being another Pepsi #BarkInThePark night, you can bring your four-legged furry friend to the game with a small $2 donation to the Scott County Humane Society.

Friday, August 10 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: The Legends will honor the former AHL and Lexington's first minor league professional ice hockey team the 'Kentucky Thoroughblades' for one night only, when they wear special edition jerseys! The Kentucky Thoroughblades were an AHL Affiliate of the San Jose Sharks that played at Rupp Arena from 1996-2001. The Legends players will wear special hockey sweater-inspired jerseys depicting the famous Thoroughblades logo and colors as a Legends baseball jersey. The hockey sweater-inspired jerseys will be auctioned off online during the game at All fans present and not present will have the opportunity to bid on the jerseys via their phone or other devices beginning at 6:00pm. Fans can expect Legends Thoroughblades apparel available for purchase! Former Thoroughblades mascots and players will be in attendance as well. Stick around after the game for another Friday Night Fireworks Show!

Saturday, August 11 at 6:35 p.m. vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: The Legends will honor First Responders courtesy of FOX's new show 9-1-1. The series is a fast-paced exploration into the lives and careers of first responders -- including police officers, paramedics and firefighters -- the individuals who put their lives on the line every day to save others. The show draws from real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers who regularly face heart-stopping situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time. Following exclusive behind the scene footage of the show, there will be another fantastic postgame fireworks show, so fans should be sure to stick around after the game!

Sunday, August 12 at 2:05 p.m. vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: The Force will be strong with the Legends on Star Wars Day! Famed Star Wars characters will be roaming the Whitaker Bank Ballpark galaxy, patrolling the concourse and field for members of the Empire. Following the Legends game, the Bluegrass Barons Vintage baseball game will take place approximately 30 minutes after the final out! Celebrate the waning days of summer with the Kids Club during the postgame ice cream social with Legends players as well as Pie a Player! Kiddos can satisfy their sweet tooth after the game in the Stables down the first base side of Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Children will also be welcomed on the field postgame to run the bases. The gates will then open for fans at 12:30 p.m. for Playtime On the Outfield with Legends players until 1p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring your glove and ball! Monday, August 13 at 7:05 p.m. vs. Kannapolis Intimidators: Fathers and daughters can celebrate Daddy/Daughter Date Night on Princess Night at the Kingdom of Whitaker Bank Ballpark! Princesses will grace fans with their presence and are even available for an exclusive meet and greet! For only $17, fans will receive a box seat ticket, meal voucher, and the meet and greet. Members Heritage Credit Union customers will receive a free ticket by showing their card at the box office.
