Texas Legends News Release
CEDAR PARK, TX, (Mar. 30, 2014) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), traveled to Austin for the final matchup of the in-state rivals this 2013-14 season. The Legends trailed the Toros for most of the game but posted a late comeback to defeat Austin on their home court 93-92.
The Toros got off to a hot start quickly, outscoring the Legends 30-20 in the first quarter. Austin remained in control throughout the second, going into halftime up 56-43. Coming out of the locker room, the Toros took their largest lead of the night with a 16-point advantage, but the Legends began chipping away at the deficit immediately. Using a balanced shooting attack and a suffocating defense, the Legends held the Toros to 14 points, while tallying 21 amongst six scorers. Heading into the final twelve minutes still trailing, the Legends pulled down 8 defensive boards to grab their first control of the half. The fourth quarter saw six ties before Damion James sunk his second free throw to seal the victory for the Legends.
Ricky Ledo led the Legends in scoring with 18 points, shooting 9-of-13 on the night. Marcus Hubbard had a standout performance with the team's only double-double of 15 points and 17 boards. Flip Murray was the game's leading scorer with 21 points while Dexter Pittman tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Toros.
The Legends will travel to Sioux Falls April 4th before returning home for their final game of the 2013-14 season against the Idaho Stampede at 7pm on April 5th. For tickets or information visit www.TexLegends.com.
