Lexington Legends News Release
The Lexington Legends will open their first season as an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals Monday, April 8 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends will take on the Asheville Tourists at 7:05 p.m.
Opening night is presented by Jackey Tax.
"This is a highly anticipated opening night for the Legends," said General Manager Seth Poteat. "With the new affiliation plus a new look with new logos, there is a lot of excitement as we get ready to start the new season."
Opening night, and all Monday night home games, will be "Kids Eat Free" nights, sponsored by Members Heritage Federal Credit Union. All kids age 12 and under will receive a voucher good for a free meal and drink.
The first of 16 Ford Fireworks shows this season will follow the opening game.
Winchester native Lauren Mink, who reached the Hollywood round of television's American Idol in each of the last two years, will sing the national anthem and God Bless America.
Legends' players will wear their new home uniforms for the first time, displaying the new look unveiled in October when Big L rappelled down the 30-story Lexington Financial Center while wearing new Legends gear.
