Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA - The Nebraska Danger Indoor Professional Football Team has announced that 2013 league MVP Jameel Sewell will return for the 2014 season. Sewell, who led the league in both rushing and passing a season ago, is one of 16 returning players signed by head coach Mike Davis for the upcoming season.

"Jameel is obviously a huge addition to our team," Davis said. "He was such a big part of our success last season and he'll be a big part of what we do this year. We are excited to have him back for 2014."

Sewell, who played collegiately at Virginia, was named the all-IFL first-team quarterback last season while passing yards (2,531), touchdown passes (52), rushing yards (654) and rushing touchdowns (25). All of those figures were also Nebraska Danger single season records.

Sewell returns to a talented group of receivers as the Danger have re-signed all-IFL receiver Kayne Farquharson, Marcus Barnett, Andre Piper-Jordan and Moe Avery to the 2014 roster. Farquharson led the league with 1,081 yards last year and was second in touchdown receptions (21) and third in receptions (73). In addition, Nebraska signed all-IFL receiver Troy Evans who played last year with the Wyoming Calvary.

"In our league, offensive timing is very important," Davis said. "Having all of those guys back on offense should really help. Generally, defenses are pretty dominating at the beginning of the season because the offenses are still learning to play together. We hope we'll have a little head start this year."

The Danger offense led the league last season in points per game (54.8) and yards per game at 274 yards per contest. They were second in the league in both passing and rushing offense.

The 2014 players are set to report to camp on February 1st for the upcoming season and will make their first public appearance at a Super Bowl party on February 2nd at Bennett's Roadhouse. The meet and greet event is open to the public and begins at 5:00 PM.

The Danger, named the 2013 IFL Franchise of the Year following their 2013 run to the United Bowl, will begin the 2014 season on Monday, February 10 with a home-opener game versus the Lincoln Haymakers. Kickoff is set for 7 pm at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island.
