Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, FL (August 31, 2010) Florida State League President Chuck Murphy announced today that Fort Myers Miracle shortstop Brian Dozier has been named to the 2010 Florida State League Post-Season All-Star Team.
Dozier was the lone Miracle selected to the 18-member team.
The team features the League's best players at every position. The prestigious team is selected annually by vote of the FSL's Managers, Official Scorers and club Sports Writers representing the 12 teams in the League. Dozier, an 8th round draft pick of the Minnesota Twins in the 2009 MLB Draft, began the season in Class A Beloit before receiving a promotion on May 22. Last year he was named an Appalachian League Post-Season All-Star with Elizabethton.
"I feel very honored to receive this award from the league. I love playing this game and have really enjoyed my time here in Fort Myers," said the Fulton, Mississippi native.
The 23-year old has compiled a .282 batting average in 87 games with the Miracle. He has four home runs and 39 RBI.
"It's nice to see Brian rewarded for his hard work. I've had the privilege to coach him for the last two years and his growth as a professional has been something to watch," said Miracle Manager Jake Mauer.
