Lancaster JetHawks News Release
ADELANTO, Calif. - Ramon Laureano hit a home run in the first inning and Rogelio Armenteros didn't allow an earned run over 5.2 innings to lead the JetHawks to a 10-3 win over the High Desert Mavericks on Monday night at Heritage Field.
Laureano's solo shot was his sixth of the season and started a 13-hit attack for the JetHawks (36-38) who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Rogelio Armenteros (4-1) gave his club a solid start, allowing just two unearned runs on five hits. He struck out five and walked two hitters.
Bobby Boyd drove in a run with a squeeze bunt in the second inning and ended up driving in three runs on the night out of the leadoff spot.
High Desert (45-30) took advantage of a two-out error in the third inning to score twice and get within a run but Lancaster's bats helped them pull away.
Aaron Mizell led off the fourth with a triple and scored on a Brooks Marlow hit, one of two runs driven in by Marlow on the evening.
Marlow started a three-run rally in the sixth inning with a leadoff double.
Keach Ballard drove in two runs to give him five RBIs in two games with Lancaster. He reached base four times out of the ninth spot in the order, picking up two hits and walking twice.
Jacob Dorris pitched the final 3.1 innings to earn his third save of the season. The only hit, and run, he allowed came on a David Lyon solo home run in the eighth inning.
Mavericks starter Cole Wiper (6-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits over five innings to take the loss.
The series continues on Tuesday as the JetHawks send Akeem Bostick (0-1) to the mound for his first start since coming off the disabled list. High Desert will counter with Ariel Jurado (6-1). First pitch from Heritage Field is 7:05 p.m.
