Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Walla Walla, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (22-19) dropped game two of the series to the Gresham GreyWolves (21-20) 7-1 on Sunday evening. The Sweets are now 5-9 in game two's this season.

The GreyWolves got out in front in the first when a ball got away from Sweets' catcher Willie MacIver (Washington) with a runner on second. He threw wildly to third and the ball sailed into left field, which allowed the run to score easily.

MacIver made up for his error in the bottom half of the first with his second home run on the season, a solo shot, with two outs. That tied the game at one.

It stayed that way until the seventh inning when the GreyWolves got to the Sweets bullpen for five runs. The Sweets have an 8.34 ERA as a team in the seventh inning, the highest out of any frame.

The GreyWolves tacked on one more in the ninth and it was too much for the Sweets to overcome. Chris Brown (UC Davis) pitched a complete game for the GreyWolves in the win.

Nick Scheidler picked up the no decision in his second start on the season. He threw five innings, only giving up four hits, one run and strikeout out seven. The Sweets as a pitching staff struck out 14 GreyWolves after striking out 17 in game one.

Game three of the series will be tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. The Sweets will send Ryan Anderson (Nevada) to the hill for the potential series victory.
