Late comeback by Rox sink Anchors

St. Cloud, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors dropped another close game as they fell to the St. Cloud Rox 3-2 Tuesday night at Joe Faber Field. In 2014, the Anchors are 6-22.
After trading zeros for the first three frames, the Anchors got on top in the fourth. Jordan Lee singled with one out and went to second on a Roman Collins walk. Ryan Busch hit a single to left bringing in Lee to put Alexandria up 1-0.
In the seventh, Brody Miller singled to center with two outs and came all the way around to score on a base hit by Ben Allen extending the Blue Anchors' lead to 2-0.
The lead was lost in the bottom half of the seventh. Seth Heck walked with one out in the inning and Kyle Thornell reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Morgan Phillips launched a two-strike pitch from Aaron Rozek out of the park to tie the game at two.
The game appeared to be going to extras with Graylon Brown pitching in the ninth. With a runner on first and two outs, Brown walked the next three hitters to force in the winning run and give the Rox the 3-2 victory.
Koopmans gave the Anchors a great start going six shutout innings allowing just four hits and one walk and striking out six hitters. Rozek pitched one inning giving up two runs on two hits and one walk. Taking the loss, Brown (0-3), lasted 1.2 innings giving up a run on one hit and three walks with two punch outs.
Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Spencer Koopmans (RHP) - The Anchors pitching staff continued its hot streak and it was lead by Koopmans who pitched six shutout innings. He lowered his ERA to 3.48.
