
Mallards Aim to Bounce Back Tonight against Woodchucks

Madison, WI - June 25, 2014. The Madison Mallards (15-11) play the second game of their two game home series against the Wisconsin Woodchucks (17-10) tonight at the "Duck Pond". First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm. They will look to come back strong after falling last night to the Woodchucks by a score of 7-2.
Mallards starter AJ Bogucki (North Carolina) gets the nod for his second start after going five shutout innings against the Lakeshore Chinooks on June 17th. Bogucki gave up four hits while striking out four in a 1-0 win. The righty has appeared in four games this season with a 0.93 ERA, and has struck out 13 batters in just 9.2 innings of work.
He will face Woodchucks pitcher Connor McFadden (Southern Illinois), a 6'3", 180-pound righty out of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. McFadden is 1-0 on the year with a 1.86 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched, having given up four runs on eight hits. In his last start, he went four innings, giving up one run on three hits and walking five.
The Woodchucks scored sporadically last night, with three runs coming in the first, one in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the ninth.
Mallards starter Sterling Sharp (Eastern Michigan) went five innings, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out two in the loss.
Woodchucks pitcher Robby Medel (TCU) tossed five innings, giving up two runs on five hits while adding five strikeouts. He was aided by three different Woodchuck relievers, who held the Mallards scoreless in the last four innings.
Mallards right fielder Brian Rodemoyer (Illinois State) was 3-for-3 on the night with three singles and a walk.
Tomorrow, the Mallards travel to Green Bay to play the Green Bay Bullfrogs at 7:05 pm.
They return home on Saturday, June 28th to face the Lakeshore Chinooks at 6:05 pm. Saturday night is 80's Night featuring an appearance by Jose Canseco in a post-game home run derby. There will also be a Capitol View Events Pre-Game 1985K.
