This past week the Carolina Panthers selected XFL St. Louis BattleHawks safety Kenny Robinson in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the National Women's Hockey League placed an expansion team in Toronto, and the Atlantic League's Long Island Ducks signed former Major League Baseball pitcher Josh Lucas. Highlights from this week are from the XFL, Canadian Football League, Major League Soccer, Canadian Premier League, Women's National Basketball Association, NBA G League, National Lacrosse League and Premier Lacrosse League.
The Carolina Panthers drafted former XFL St. Louis BattleHawks safety Kenny Robinson in the fifth round, 152nd overall of the 2020 NFL Draft. He also played college football at West Virginia.

National Arena League
The National Arena League is aiming to kickoff the 2020 season on June 13th if possible. As most states are starting to slowly reopen following President Trump's Opening up America plan. The schedule for the season is being created to accommodate the teams, owners and the arenas as long as we continue to see improvements surrounding the virus.
Canadian Football League
The BC Lions Football Club announced that free agent kicker Sergio Castillo has signed a two-year contract with the team. The native of La Joya, Texas began 2020 with the XFL's Houston Roughnecks where he suited up for all five games and made five field goals, helping the squad to an undefeated record before play was suspended.
Prior to the April 30th CFL Draft, Marshall Ferguson reveals the Top 20 Canadian prospects in the final edition of the CFL Central Scouting Bureau rankings.
National Women's Hockey League
After consecutive seasons of substantial growth while proving the value of women's professional hockey and the skilled, inspiring athletes who play the game, the National Women's Hockey League is coming to Canada. When the league opens its sixth season, an expansion team will debut in Toronto.

Major League Soccer
Major League Soccer has extended the team training moratorium through, and including, Friday, May 15. MLS training facilities remain closed to all players and staff with the exception of players requiring medical treatment or rehabilitation, under the direction of the team medical staff, that cannot be performed from the safety of their residence.

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) announced today an extension to the team training moratorium through, and including, Friday, May 15. All NWSL training facilities remain closed, except for medical treatment that cannot be performed at home.

The 2020 WNBA Draft on ESPN was the most-watched WNBA Draft in 16 years and the second most-watched in ESPN's history. This year's event, which was held virtually in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, averaged 387,000 viewers on ESPN, up 123 percent over the 2019 Draft, and up 33 percent from the last time it aired on the network in 2011.

The Board of Directors of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball has postponed the start of the 2020 regular season, which was scheduled for May 19. The American Association will aim for a start date of the season in early July. The league intends a season that will include 80 games and extend to late September. The early July timeline, along with the length of the season, is subject to the ability to hold games in home markets while abiding by federal, state, provincial governments laws and municipal health orders and guidelines.
The Long Island Ducks announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Josh Lucas. The three-year Major League veteran enters his first season with the Ducks and 10th in professional baseball. Lucas has pitched in the Major Leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals (2017), Oakland Athletics (2018) and Baltimore Orioles (2019).
