
Lassi Lappalainen Called up by Finland

MONTREAL - Midfielder Lassi Lappalainen was called up Wednesday by the Finnish national team ahead of four international matches in June.
The midfielder will join his national side for four UEFA Nations League group stage matches on Saturday, June 4 against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tuesday, June 7 against Montenegro and Saturday, June 11 against Romania. The team will conclude the international break in a rematch against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday, June 14.
The first pair of games as well as the return match against Bosnia-Herzegovina will be played in Helsinki while the match against Romania will be held in Bucharest.
Lappalainen will depart CF Montréal after the Saturday, May 28 match against Cincinnati.
Finland was placed in Group B3 of the UEFA Nations League. The team atop the table at the end of the group stage will secure promotion to League A while the bottom team will be relegated to League C.
Lappalainen made his senior national team debut on January 11, 2019, in a friendly against Estonia, and has represented his country nine times at the senior level. His last appearance with the national team was on June 16, 2021 in the group stage of EURO 2020 against Russia. The 23-year-old winger played 15 minutes in a substitute role.
