Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - Defenders Alistair Johnston and Kamal Miller, along with midfielder Samuel Piette, have called up by the Canadian men's national team, which is set to play three international matches this June.
Canada will first face Iran in a friendly on Sunday, June 5 at 7pm EDT at BC Place before beginning its CONCACAF Nations League journey. The Canadians, placed in Group C of League A, will first host Curaçao on Thursday, June 9 at BC Place at 10:30pm EDT before travelling to Central America to face Honduras at the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula. Kickoff is scheduled for 10pm EDT.
The winner of the group will earn a bye to both the 2023 Gold Cup as well as the knockout phase of the CONCACAF Nations League in June 2023.
Miller and Johnston played 194 and 169 minutes respectively for their country during the last international break against Costa Rica (0-1), Jamaica (4-0), and Panama (0-1), helping Canada confirm its place atop the standings and qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this November. Johnston is one of the few players on John Herdman's roster to feature in all the Octagon's qualifying matches. Piette will make his return to the national team for the first time since January 28 following an ankle injury sustained in a qualifying game against Honduras in San Pedro Sula.
