Las Vegas to host 2005 ABA All Star Weekend

December 23, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The ABA today announced that Las Vegas has been chosen to host the 2005 All Star Weekend.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We are very excited about having the first ABA All Star Weekend in the Entertainment Capital of the World. The organizers, affiliated with the Las Vegas Rattler team, have put together a fabulous weekend of activities including celebrities, concerts, parties, a golf tournament, and some big game day events that fans enjoy including 3-point shooting, slam dunk and the other skills. Plans even include an OldTimers Game honoring the original ABA stars. It should be a fabulous weekend."

Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP stated, "I'm not sure if America really knows how good many of the ABA players are. They're incredibly skilled - great shooters, passers, rebounders - really outstanding. For those of you who remember the days of Dr. J, Connie Hawkins, Spencer Haywood, Marvin Barnes, David Thompson, George Gervin, Freddie Lews and others in the original ABA, people found out that there were great players not in the NBA then - and they'll find that out now. We'll let fans judge for themselves the tremendous talent in this league. Our All Stars will put on a great show."

Gil Morgan, Las Vegas Rattler co-owner added, "We hope to make this a show that will set a high standard for all future ABA events. We are pleased and honored to have been chosen."

The ABA will post regular updates about the All Star Weekend, the All Star team, events, sponsorship opportunities and other information. You can contact Gil Morgan at gmorgan29@aol.com or call the Las Vegas Rattlers at 702 317 7777 or visit www.abalive.com.
