March 17, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Las Vegas Venom News Release

Team representatives from the NEW Las Vegas ABA(American Basketball Association) Basketball Team will hold a free "Basketball and Life" clinic at the Veterans Memorial Recreation Center Sunday, April 2nd. The teams General Manager Dan Savage, and several well know coaches will lead over 30 participants through a rigorous series of drills before taking an opportunity to speak to the kids about the importance of family, school, and making good decisions. The impromptu clinic will be the first of what the organizers hope are many free clinics that the team will participate in throughout the year.

"Our involvement in the community is equally important to our organization as our involvement in the League." Said Savage, "We intend to reach out to the surrounding areas in various ways. Our players, coaches, staff and owners are all committed to building a strong partnership with the local communities in Las Vegas ."

Other notable participants will be Former UNLV and NBA standouts Tyron Nesby, George Ackles and Gerald Paddio. Director of Player Development, Scott Porter will also be joined by towering 7'2" Dave Korfman and Arizona State's Ron Riley. Joining the coaches will be local school Principal Cindy Rivera who will share her thoughts on the importance of good grades.

The team will hold a short press conference immediately following the clinic to announce the team name, logo, website and community outreach program. The slogan for the team is "Your Community Team" and this will be evident to all those who attend. This is an open gym clinic which means that parents and friends are invited to sit in the gym to watch the entire clinic.

Please contact Dan Savage with any questions. Dan can be reached at 416-4251 or at savagesports@juno.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
