August 16, 2011 - United Football League (UFL 1)
Las Vegas Locomotives News Release
LAS VEGAS - The two-time defending United Football League (UFL) champion Las Vegas Locomotives will play three home games at Sam Boyd Stadium this season following the announcement of the full 2011 UFL schedule today.
"We are very excited to start training camp and begin our journey towards a third championship," said Locomotives Head Coach Jim Fassel. "Our schedule will present plenty of challenges this season and we can't wait to compete with the rest of the league."
Following two road games to open the season, at Sacramento on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. PST and at Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. PST, the Locomotives will open their home schedule at Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 5 p.m. PST by hosting the Omaha Nighthawks.
The Locos will then travel to Omaha the following week to square off against the Nighthawks on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. PST. The team returns to Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 22 to take on the Sacramento Mountain Lions at 7 p.m. PST. The 2011 home schedule will come to a close on Thursday, Oct. 27 when the Locomotives play the Virginia Destroyers at 7 p.m. PST.
"In a six-game season, every game counts and not only is there no room for a losing streak, but our teams will be in playoff mode right from the opening kickoff," said UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue. "That will make for some tense and exciting games to keep fans on the edge of their seats.
"We are grateful to the venues in each city for their flexibility and willingness to help us create a schedule at relatively short notice after we restructured our season. We have targeted as many Friday nights and weekend games as possible to appeal to families and fans of all ages."
Locos fans can secure their seat in Sam Boyd Stadium now to ensure they don't miss one minute of the 2011 season as the "Locos" pursue their third consecutive league championship. Season ticket packages for the three home games at Sam Boyd Stadium are now on sale and can be purchased by calling 702.877.LOCO. When an adult purchases a full-priced season ticket package, they also have the option to purchase an additional children's season ticket package at a 50 percent discount (for children age 15 and younger).
Each home game will be a fun-filled experience both on and off the football field. A team-sponsored Fan Fest will be held before every home game where fans will have the opportunity to enjoy food and games and interact with the Locomotion dance team. During each game, there will be on-field activities before kickoff and during halftime where fans will have the chance to win great prizes. Additionally, each game will have a designated theme to enhance the fan experience from the opening kickoff to the final whistle. Coaches and players will be available after all home games for autographs and pictures.
