Omaha Nighthawks News Release

OMAHA, Neb., Tuesday, August 16, 2011 - A reallocation draft of eligible Hartford Colonial players was held Monday evening. The Nighthawks added great talent to their roster, and look forward to integrating the former Colonials into the team at training camp. With the first pick in the draft, the Nighthawks selected Offensive Tackle Orrin Thompson from Duke University. Before playing for the Colonials, Thompson played for the New York Sentinels in the UFL's 2009 Premiere Season. He has also spent time in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, and New York Giants.

"Orrin is a guy that Don Lawrence and I have known since he played for New York in 2009," said Rick Mueller, General Manager. "He will fit in well here because of his smarts and versatility."

Also added to the Nighthawks' roster was Linebacker Chad Nkang from Elon College. Nkang had the Jacksonville Jaguars' single-season record for 30 special teams tackles in 2007.

"Chad has rare special teams ability, and also brings a physical presence to the linebacker position." Mueller added.

The final active roster addition was Defensive Safety Terrell Skinner of Maryland who had a career high 67 tackles in college, and recently spent time with the Indianapolis Colts. Skinner was an undrafted free agent for the Minnesota Vikings in 2010.

In addition to the 3 active roster additions, Omaha gained the rights to three additional players: Running Back Lorenzo Booker (Minnesota Vikings), Offensive Guard Kyle Calloway (Baltimore Ravens) and Offensive Center Cecil Newton (New Orleans Saints).
