Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, WA: The first inning struggles continued for the AquaSox on Saturday night at Funko Field, as they dropped game five of the series to the Hillsboro Hops by a score of 13-2. It was the fourth straight game in which Hillsboro has scored two runs or more in the top of the first inning.
The highlight of the game for the AquaSox was the performance of Marysville native Trent Tingelstad. Normally an outfielder, Tingelstad made his professional pitching debut in the ninth inning. He got all three Hops batters to pop out using only ten pitches.
Offensively for Everett, Robert Perez, Jr went 2-4. He has now reached base in 11 consecutive games dating back to his time with the Modesto Nuts. Mike Salvatore and Dariel Gomez each had an RBI.
Hillsboro third baseman Deyvison De Los Santos and Designated Hitter AJ Vukovich both had four hits and combined for three RBI's and a pair of runs scored. Hillsboro's offense has scored 37 runs in the first five games of this series.
Everett starting pitcher Juan Mercedes battled through 4.1 innings allowing eight hits, four runs, one walk and three strikeouts.
Everett looks to salvage game six of the series tomorrow afternoon at 4:05pm. Sunday Fun Day promotions include an AquaSox Flag Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans presented by Tulalip Resort Casino, it is also Root Beer Float Day, and Faith & Family Day.
