Laredo Bucks News Release


LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks went 1-1-1 in three games this past week. The Bucks beat Fort Worth 4-1 on Friday in Fort Worth. Saturday night the Bucks lost 3-2 in Bossier-Shreveport. On Tuesday the Bucks fell 4-3 to Corpus Christi in a shootout at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Laredo is 31-12-4 with a Southern Conference and Southeast Division best 66 points. The Bucks are in Odessa on Friday, and then travel to Amarillo on Saturday and Austin on Sunday. Laredo returns home on Friday, February 24th against the Corpus Christi Rayz. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

- The Bucks are home on Friday, February 24th, against the Corpus Christi Rayz. Face off set for 7:30 p.m. The first 2,000 fans thru the gates get a band aid dispenser courtesy of Doctor's Hospital. Fans can enjoy a post-game skate on the LEC ice. The Bucks are also home on Sunday, February 26th, against the Odessa Jackalopes. The first 2,500 fans get a Buck Out Illiteracy Bookmark courtesy of BMP Radio. Fans can enjoy a post-game skate on the LEC ice, joined by the Bucks players.

- ODESSA JACKALOPES -

2005-06: This is the third of six match ups this year between the teams. The teams will each play three home games in the series. The Bucks shutout the Jackalopes on 11/25 3-0. David Lemanowicz had 37 saves to post the whitewash. On 12/2 the Jackalopes beat the Bucks 4-2 in Odessa.

2004-05: Laredo was 2-2-0 against the Jackalopes last year. Each team went 1-1-0 at home.

All-time: Laredo is 10-4-1 against Odessa, outscoring the Jackalopes 52-31. The Bucks are 6-1-1 at the LEC. The teams met in the first round of the 2003 CHL playoffs. The Bucks beat the Jackalopes three games to two.

- AMARILLO GORRILAS -

2005-06: This is final of three meetings between the teams. On 10/22 the Gorillas overcame a three goal third period deficit and beat the Bucks 8-7 in Amarillo. Derek Hahn had a hat trick in the win as the Gorillas scored six power play goals. On 11/11 the Bucks beat Amarillo 6-5 in a shooout as Jeff bes had two goals and two assists.

2004-05: The Bucks were 2-1-0 against Amarillo, with both wins coming at home.

All-time: Laredo is 5-5-1 against the Gorillas, including 5-0-1 at home in the regular season. The teams have met the past two seasons in the Southern Conference Finals. The Bucks beat Amarillo 4-2 in 2004 and 4-0 in 2005.

- AUSTIN ICE BATS -

2005-06: The Bucks are 5-1-0 against the Ice Bats. This is the fifth of eight meetings this year, four match ups will come at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 4-2 on 11/10 in Austin as forward James Hiebert had a goal and two assists. On 12/16 the Bucks beat Austin 5-2 powered by a pair of Chris Grenville goals. On 12/23 the Bucks scored a pair of third period goals and beat the Bats 5-3 at the LEC. Five different players scored for Laredo. On 12/31 Nick Warriner scored a pair of goals as the Bucks beat the Ice Bats 5-2. Austin beat the Bucks 5-3 on 01/07 as John McNabb had a pair of goals. Laredo beat Austin 2-0 on 01/11 as Dov Grumet-Morris made 27 saves.

2004-05: Laredo was 7-4-0 against the Ice Bats. The Bucks were 2-3-0 at the Bat Cave.

All-time: Laredo is 23-13-1 against Austin. The Bucks are 16-4-1 at the LEC and 7-9-0 at the Bat Cave. The teams met in the 2003 Southern Conference Finals with Austin beating the Bucks 4-2.

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH 19:59?

- The Bucks gave up the tying goal at 19:59 of the third period in a 4-3 shootout loss to Corpus Christi. It was the third time this season the Bucks have allowed a goal at 19:59 of a period. On 12/28 Corpus Christi scored at 19:59 of the first period. On 01/20 Colorado scored at 19:59 of the second.

WERE PERFECT

- The Bucks were 5-0-0 against Corpus Christi this season until Tuesday when they squandered a two goal third period lead and lost 4-3 in a shootout.

WHAT HAPPENED?

- The Bucks allowed Corpus Christi just four shots in the first 35 minutes on Tuesday, but the Rayz turned the tables and fired 26 shots over the final 25 minutes of regulation as they tied the game and won 4-3 in a shootout.

LOTS OF SHOTS

- Laredo had out shot their last 10 opponents and 16 of the last 17, until Bossier-Shreveport out shot the Bucks 38-27 on 02/11. Laredo and Corpus Christi each had 31 shots on Tuesday.

WINLESS IN TWO

- Laredo is winless in their last two games, losing 3-2 in Bossier-Shreveport on 02/11 and falling 4-3 in a shootout o Corpus Christi on Tuesday. It is the first time the Bucks have come up with out a win in back-to-back games, since the first three games of the season when the Bucks started out 0-3-0.

POWER PLAY OUTAGE

- The Bucks have failed to register a power play goal in six of the last seven games. The Bucks are 3 for their last 31 on the man advantage. Laredo did go 1-5 on the power play on Tuesday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Corpus Christi.

- The Bucks have had just 10 total power play chances in the last three games.

- 02/14/06 - TUESDAY - vs. CORPUS CHRISTI - The Laredo Bucks blew a two goal lead in the third period and fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Corpus Christi Rayz on Tuesday night in front of 5,228 fans on Valentine's Day at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Forward Derrick McIver scored at 19:59 of the third period, after 1.9 seconds had been put back on the clock in the last 11.5 seconds of regulation, to tie the game and send it to overtime and stun the Bucks. Laredo is 31-12-4 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 66 points. David Lemanowicz stopped 27 of 30 shots and seven of nine in the shootout, but took the loss to fall to 13-3-2. Scott Reid turned aside 28 of 31 shots, then eight of nine in the shootout to get the win and improve to 12-14-1. FINAL SCORE Corpus Christi 4, Laredo 3 in shootout.

- 02/11/06 - SATURDAY - @ BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT -The Laredo Bucks fell 3-2 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday night in front of 7,652 fans at the CenturyTel Center. The Bucks four game win streak came to an end as Mudbugs forward Scott Sheppard potted the game winner in the third period. Laredo is 31-12-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 67 points. Dov Grumet-Morris played well allowing just three goals on 38 shots and making numerous big saves, but took the tough luck loss to fall to 11-4-1. Ken Carroll stopped 25 of 27 shots and got the win to improve to 16-7-4. FINAL SCORE Bossier-Shreveport 3, Laredo 2.

- 02/10/06 - FRIDAY - @ FORT WORTH - The Laredo Bucks beat the Fort Worth Brahmas 4-1 on Friday night at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Four different players scored as the Bucks won their fourth straight game and ninth in their last 10. Laredo is 31-11-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 65 points. David Lemanowicz stopped 17 of 18 shots to post the win and improve to 13-3-1. Larry Sterling allowed four goals on 36 shots and fell to 12-21-3. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Fort Worth 1.
