Laredo Bucks News Release


LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks swept three games from the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Laredo Entertainment Center over the past week. The Bucks beat RGV 4-1 on Friday, then followed up with a 6-1 win on Saturday. Wednesday the Bucks rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory over the Killer Bees. The Bucks swept the Killer Bees three straight games and have now won eight of their last nine. Laredo is 30-11-3 with a Southern Conference and Southeast Division best 63 points. The Bucks are on the road this Friday in Fort Worth, then Saturday in Bossier-Shreveport. Laredo is home again on Tuesday, February 14th, Valentine's Day, against the Corpus Christi Rayz. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS

- Bucks fans spend Tuesday, February 14th, Valentine's Day with the Laredo Bucks as they battle the CC Rayz. Face off set for 7 p.m. The first 2,500 fans receive a Valentine's Day pencil courtesy of AT&T and the Bucks will wear special Valentine's jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game. The Bucks will host the "Give Blood, Play Hockey" Blood Drive on Valentine's Day, Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the LEC. Every person that donates receives 2 tickets, a t-shirt, and a chance to win great prizes from La Posada and the Bucks.

- FORT WORTH BRAHMAS -

2005-06: The Brahmas beat the Bucks in Fort Worth 4-3 on 10/28. It was the Brahmas first every regulation win against the Bucks. The Bucks rebounded with a 3-2 win over the Brahmas on 01/21.

2004-05: Laredo was 2-0-0 against Fort Worth. The Bucks beat the Brahmas on the road 2-1 on 03/18/05 when Oriel McHugh scored with 7.7 seconds left in regulation time. Laredo also beat Fort Worth 4-1 on 12/11/04 at the LEC.

All-time: The Bucks are 10-1-1 against Fort Worth, outscoring the Brahmas 44-28. Laredo is 5-1-1 in Fort Worth.

- BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT MUDBUGS -

2005-06: This is the third and final meeting of the year between the teams. The Bucks beat the Mudbugs 3-1 on December 3rd at the LEC as Serge Dube scored a pair of goals. Bossier-Shreveport shutout the Bucks 3-0 on 01/13 at the CenturyTel Center.

2004-05: The Bucks were 0-1-1 against the Mudbugs. The Bucks lost 3-2 in a shootout on 11/11/04 at the LEC. The Mudbugs beat the Bucks 4-3 on 01/28/05 at the CenturyTel Center.

All-time: The Bucks are 3-6-1 against Bossier-Shreveport, including a 3-2-1 record at the LEC.

POWER PLAY OUTAGE

- The Buck have failed to register a power play goal in three of the last four games. The Bucks are 2 for their last 21 on the man advantage.

DOWN AFTER TWO PERIODS, BUT NOT OUT

- The Bucks trailed RGV 1-0 after two periods on Wednesday night, but rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory. The Bucks have recorded eight points when trailing after two periods this year, going 3-7-2. Last year Laredo was just 1-13-0 when trailing after two frames.

- 02/08/06 - WEDNESDAY - vs. RIO GRANDE VALLEY - The Laredo Bucks stunned the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees with three unanswered goals, including the game winner in sudden death by defenseman Steve Weidlich to post a 3-2 overtime win in front of 5,234 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Wednesday night. The Bucks swept the Killer Bees three straight games and have now won eight of their last nine. Laredo is 30-11-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 63 points. Bucks goalie Dov Grumet-Morris turned in a solid effort stopping 37 of 39 shots to get the win and improve to 11-3-1. Evan Lindsay allowed three goals on 45 shots and fell to 16-13-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 3, Rio Grande Valley 2 in sudden death.

- 02/04/06 - SATURDAY - vs. RIO GRANDE VALLEY -The Laredo Bucks got a pair of goals from forwards Chris Grenville and Ladislav Kouba as they beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-1 on Saturday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center in front of 5,695 fans. By scoring six goals the Bucks gave everyone in attendance a free frosty from Wendy's. Laredo has won back-to-back games against Rio Grande Valley, and seven of their last eight games overall. Laredo is 29-11-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 61 points. David Lemanowicz stopped 36 of 37 shots to get the win and improve to 12-3-1. Evan Lindsay allowed three goals on 18 shots in 25:17 of work and got the loss to fall to 16-13-1. Terry Dunbar played the last 34:43 in net and allowed three goals on 21 shots. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Rio Grande Valley 1.

- 02/03/06 - FRIDAY - vs. RIO GRANDE VALLEY -The Laredo Bucks got goals from four different players and a solid defensive effort as they beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-1 in front of 5,489 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center on Friday night. The Bucks won for the seventh time in the last nine games as they took the first of three straight games between the Bucks and Killer Bees. Laredo is 28-11-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 59 points. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 26 of 27 shots to get the win and improve to 10-3-1. Evan Lindsay allowed four goals on 39 shots and took the loss to drop to 16-12-1. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Rio Grande Valley 1.
