Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (January 29, 2013) - Forward Mickey Lang has been reassigned to the Quad City Mallards by the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, the Mallards announced today.
Lang, 26, was called up by the IceHogs last Thursday and made his AHL debut last Friday in Rockford's 2-1 loss to the Chicago Wolves.
Lang is tied for the Central Hockey League lead in shorthanded goals (3), ranks third
in goals (22), ranks fifth in points (47) and is tied for sixth in power play goals (5). The 5' 10", 174-pound Reno, Nevada, native is also tied for the team lead in plus/minus rating (+10). Lang played in each of the Mallards' first 38 games before missing last weekend's two game series in Arizona.
Lang last Monday was named Oakley CHL Player of the Week after breaking loose for a natural hat trick- his first career three-goal game- and a league season high six points in the Mallards' 7-1 win over the Denver Cutthroats January 19 at the i wireless Center. That outburst also extended Lang's point-scoring streak to eight games (7-7-14), matching his own mark for the longest such streak by a Mallard this season. Lang's was the first six-point game produced by a Mallard since Luke Stauffacher registered a half dozen points on December 30, 2006 in a 7-4 Mallard victory over the Generals in Flint.
Lang returned to the Mallards this season after scoring 19 goals and totaling 40 points in 61 games as a rookie last year. He capped of his first pro campaign by earning CHL Rookie of the Month and CHL Oakley First Star honors for March.
Lang spent four seasons at Division III Manhattanville College before turning pro. He scored 16 times and produced 27 points in 24 games as a senior in 2010-11. In 88 career collegiate games, Lang notched 47 goals and 93 points.
The Mallards meet the Bloomington Blaze tonight at 7;05 p.m. on home ice. This evening will also see Mo Mallard welcome a host of other area mascots to the i wireless Center for All-Star Mascot Night.
Tickets for tonight's tilt- as well as seats for all remaining Mallards regular season home games- can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center ticket office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
