LA Galaxy News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Saturday, October 12, 2013 ) - LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan will rejoin the club after being released from international duty by U.S. National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann because of an ankle injury. Donovan is scheduled to return to Southern California today where he will be evaluated by the Galaxy medical staff.
Donovan played the opening 45 minutes of the Friday's 2-0 win over Jamaica at Sporting Park in Kansas City but suffered a recurrence of a left ankle injury that he originally suffered on September 14 against D.C. United. That injury forced Donovan to miss one MLS game and two CONCACAF Champions League games, though he returned to play in each of the Galaxy's last two league matches.
Currently tied with Jeff Cunningham for the most regular season goals in MLS history, Donovan has 10 goals and nine assists in 20 games for the Galaxy this season. He has also collected eight goals and eight assists in 10 games with the National Team this year, giving him 57 goals and 153 caps with the U.S.
The Galaxy will be back in action on Wednesday, October 16 when they host the Montreal Impact at StubHub Center. That match, which is presented by City National Bank, can be seen live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes. Tickets for this game are on sale now by calling 877-3GALAXY (342-5299) or visitingwww.lagalaxy.com/ tickets.
