OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers, in conjunction with the United States Hockey League (USHL), are pleased to announce that Nolan Zajac has been named CCM Defensive Player of the Week for Week 18 of the USHL season while Alex Lyon has been named Reebok Goaltender of the Week. The pair helped the first-place Lancers extend their lead in the Western Conference with a pair of victories in three games.

A third-year defenseman from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Zajac tallied points in all three games this past weekend registering six points (two goals, four assists) in a span of 49 hours. After notching an assist in Friday's 3-2 setback to the Tri-City Storm, Zajac recorded the game-winning goal and added an assist in Omaha's 4-0 shutout of the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday. The future Denver Pioneer closed his productive weekend with a goal and two assists in Sunday's 6-2 victory over the Fargo Force, which stretched his current point streak to a season-high seven games. Zajac leads all Omaha defensemen and is now tied for the USHL-lead in scoring among blueliners with 25 points (six goals, 19 assists) this season.

Meanwhile, Lyon was named Reebok Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season after backstopping the Lancers to a pair of victories to close out the weekend. First, the native of Baudette, Minnesota earned his third shutout of the season with a 24-save performance in Omaha's 4-0 victory at Des Moines on Saturday. Then, the future Yale Bulldog earned his Western Conference-best 17th win of the season after turning aside 29 of Fargo's 31 total shots in a 6-2 victory over the Force on Sunday. All tolled, Lyon posted a 2-0 record over the weekend while compiling a 1.00 goals-against average coupled with a .964 save percentage. The Lancers netminder was previously named Reebok Goaltender of the Week following Week 3 of the USHL season.

Omaha (23-12-2, 48 pts.) returns to action Friday evening when the Lancers travel up to the Scheels Arena in Fargo for a 7:35 PM showdown with the Force. For more information, visit www.lancers.com.
