WATERLOO, IA - The Omaha Lancers held on to take down the Waterloo Black Hawks on Tuesday night by a final score of 4-3.
After a scoreless first period, Ayrton Martino (7:58) sniped the puck past Charlie Glockner for his 14th of the year. The Lancers went on their first power play of the night where Zach Dubinsky (12:42) scored to get the Lancers ahead 2-0. Seconds later, Owen Fowler (13:06) scored after tucking the loose puck in the net off of a rebound. Nearing the end of the period, Michael Posma stole the puck in the Waterloo zone where Nolan Renwick (17:39) shot it in from the slot beating Glockner for a 4-0 lead.
In the third period, the Black Hawks scored three unanswered goals. Nearing the end of regulation, Waterloo went on the power play and pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. The Lancers though kept the Black Hawks from scoring to take a 4-3 win and won the season series with a 5-0-0-1 record. Jakub Dobes stopped 27 of the 30 shots he faced in the win.
The Lancers are now 23-15-0-1 on the season with 47 points and sit at second in the USHL Western Conference.
Omaha will face off against two top-ranked Western opponents this weekend at Ralston Arena. Friday the Lancers will host the Tri-City Storm at 7:05 PM, and Saturday the Fargo Force at 6:05 PM.
